Creek and Stream BioassessmentBenthic Macro-Invertebrates (BMI) |
FOPCW volunteers have participated for several years in a monitoring effort to collect and study benthic macro- invertebrate populations within the stream. Enotomologists can determine the condition and quality of the water system by analyzing species variation. Environmental stressors such as pollutants or sediment levels which affect the macroinvertebrate community are good indicators of the overall health of the water system.
